Today was the first time EVER in our entire lives that we had a sister day. Never not once have we done this. We spend holidays and birthdays together. But we have never taken the time to actually hang out.
32 years of being sisters.
A life time of trauma, heart ache, destruction, and today, we did a thing to show that even though this world has tried to break us both individually, and our relationship as sisters, we have come out better, stronger, wiser and TOGETHER!
This world handed us the worst – and here we stand with God’s glory and restoration as strong, confident OVERCOMER’s!
“To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of BEAUTY FOR ASHES, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.”
~ Isaiah 61:3 NLT ~

The awesome representation this tattoo gives us. It gives us a chance to share our testimony of what God brought us through…

The woman is a representation of sisterhood, motherhood, femininity, life (woman bring life forward through birth.)
She is standing on top a dead dandelion that has seeded out and lost some of its seeds. Standing on top of it shows she has risen above the destruction, pain, hurt, trauma. Seeded dandelions are some of the most fragile things. The slightest movement or bumps makes it fall apart. It destroys itself. It crumbles to pieces.
The Butterfly is a symbol of brand new life. A life transformed from deep inside a dark cocoon where she was once one person and lived a life crawling on the ground, the lowest of all places, and is now a butterfly, able to fly above, as a brand new creation. She is reaching for a butterfly and letting go of the word Ashes.
Showing that she now has Beauty.
And a brand new life.
Letting go of all the stuff that is burned and destroyed, she is a brand new woman with a brand new future, bright and beautiful, and free from the rocks and weeds at rock bottom on the ground.
Everything in life tried to hold her back, but she chose to reach for something better and she overcame!
